I plan to set up some musical equipment and start using new software, practicing more, etc. I of course have a large plan that is probably going to take a lot of time and money to complete, and might never happen, but there's also little things i can do right now with what i already have, so hopefully i'll do that smaller plan soon. I also have a beginning music production magazine and I plan to try something from each section in it.
music magazine:
1. new midi controller/keyboard either akai mpk 3, akai lpk, donner dmk 25 pro, and/or korg nano pad 2.
2. at first a free daw like bitwig, other free tools mentioned in music production magazine.
3. new computer
4. new furniture arrangement/chairs/completion of condo plan
5. guitar stand
6. possibly a cover for the keyboard or a way to store it under the table/under the monitor and then pull it out so it's not always there.
1. midi cords/headphone adapter for keyboard.
2. new practice schedule that works.
3. Maybe download some free tools like bitwig on current laptop.
4. more guitar accessibility, maybe under bed next to desk, instead of under table on other side of room
5. permanently plugged into laptop cords that attach to my guitar and keyboard. so there isn't the constant getting out, plugging in, finding cords problem that doesn't sound like a big deal, but probably makes me not play as much.
A lot of times, especially in music, probably in computers and everything else too, I focus more on getting supplies than on actually doing the project. This is probably because of the number of times I have started projects only to be stopped because i don't have something i need. I used to see people with some really cool keyboards and music studios and music rooms. I remember visiting some friends houses in the 90's and seeing their computers and keyboards and being super impressed with stuff like acid music or whatever ancient and probably not really all that good software and keyboards they had. It really couldn't have been that impressive, but music rooms just used to look cool. A lot of music i've listened to is dependent on having a certain daw or when it comes to guitars, a certain amp or tuning like drop c or something like that too. This page is going to be about plans to get a small music setup built. It's going to have notes about stuff i need to buy and plans of how to set it up, but I also think that it's more important to just play simple versions of songs i write in my head on a regular old keyboard without any effects. Also my setup shouldn't be and can't be designed to look like a music studio. Instead it has to be designed to have comfortable little places to sit and practice, and accessible instruments. Like I shouldn't have my guitar in a case under a table, it should be easier to pick up. I should keep my old keyboard and just use it as a piano, and i should have a small keyboard that is always set up to record. actually both of them should be connected to a recording computer, but it shouldn't be too computer centric, it should be focused on the instruments. With ai the way it is, if it's not possible already, it will be possible to just play a melody on a keyboard or maybe whistle or hum something and have it be instantly enhanced to insane levels of quality. Maybe low lvl beatboxing, singing in the shower, and playing simple scales will become an actual good base for writing ai enhanced songs. Really though, this becomes a mental block, this thing i get into where it's supplies and setup vs practice is a tough thing for me. I end up not doing either one, and then I frequently have to start over from nothing. In the past i haven't recorded anything i was trying to do or trying to think of either, so this whole site, bad as it might be, is a way to keep a record of efforts to do things, so i can look back and quickly get back to where i was. Of course this can be a third distraction, so maybe i've got to prioritize one of the three. In this case I'll try to priortize practice, which will be defined as even touching any instrument every day. 2nd priority is make a bad setup with the things i have, third is make an ok setup with a couple things i don't yet have. forth is update my plans and progress on this page.
Apparently audacity was bought by some company and it's collecting telemetry, generally not working right, spying for both the US and Russia which is interesting, and also trying to charge people money now. It's not as open sourcey as it used to be. There are lots of articles out there that are somewhat like this one that prove this unfortunate fact. So I found a new alternative that I believe is like audacity used to be. This new replacement for audacity is called Tenacity.
